Chateau d’Exindre la Magdelaine
Despite being the Geroudet family domain since the revolution in 1789, they have only been owners of the domain for a fraction of its time producing wine! The church produced wine here in the 11th century, and it is likely that the Romans who built a villa here also produced wine.

Today Chateau d’Exindre is one of the few producers of Muscat de Mireval, the smallest of Languedoc’s sweet wine appellations. As the domain is just a kilometre or so from the sea, the stony vineyards, which lie on gently sloping land, benefit from warm sunny days and a cooling onshore breeze through the night. This allows the grapes to ripen well, while retaining much of their natural acidity allowing the Geroudet family to make wines with a lovely balance and Muscat with much complexity and character.

A ruby coloured wine that blends traditional with international varieties. The result is a highly drinkable wine that gives a real mouthful of raisined fruit and dark berry fruit flavours with a dollop of spice thrown in to add interest. It has nice freshness and is great with a wide range of food.

Vent d’Anges 2009

Chateau d’Exindre la Magdelaine
Vent d’Anges 2009

Another wonderful vintage of this fantastic Muscat from the Chateau d'Exindre la Magdelaine. The nose is full of orange, honey, floral and barley sugar notes. The palate is complex with a lovely combination of oranges, summer flowers, grape, honey, and barley sugar. With great length and a lovely balance it is possibly even better than the 2008!

Amelius 2007

Chateau d’Exindre la Magdelaine
Amelius 2007

The top red wine from the Chateau d'Exindre, this is made from Syrah with a little Grenache and possibly a little Carignan harvested at low yields, and aged after a long fermentation/maceration for over a year in oak barriques, a significant proportion of which are new.

The wine is full and powerful, with great complex berry fruit, and purple fruit flavours, with a lot of lovely spice, including pepper, oriental spice and vanilla. The wine is well balanced and very satisfying.
