New Wines and New Vintages
We are pleased to be able to offer some new wines, including a new domain. Chateau Saint Martin de la Garrigue is one of the top producers of Picpoul de Pinet, along with two other lovely whites and two super reds including their top wine based on Mourvedre, Syrah and Grenache.

We also have new vintages of wines we already list from Mas d'Agalis, Mas de Valbrune (look for a new wine that is justt lovely!) and Domaine Jordy, including their very popular rose.

Welcome to the Aldeby Wines Website

We are a relatively new company importing and selling wines direct from the producers in the South of France.

Our wines have been sourced direct from small producers, including many discovered while Ian Webb, our founder, was spending a year working at L'Ermitage du Pic Saint Loup, a leading producer in the area.

Ian - Working Again!

The wines produced in the South of France offer a lot to the consumer: they have a great tradition and history of making wine; but they are also capture the spirit of innovation so widespread in Languedoc. Today the wines of the region are very diverse, from character full dry whites to quaffable fruit-packed rosé, and from some superb sweet wines to complex, intriguing and world beating reds.

The two things that link all of the producers we list are the high quality of the wines they produce and the great value for money they offer the UK consumer.

Please have a browse through the site, there is sure to be something that will catch your eye - all we ask is that you order a minimum of six bottles (though if you really only want one or two, get in touch and we will probably be able to help) If you are not sure, or the choice is just too difficult, then try one of our mixed cases, which have been specially designed to introduce the drinker to specific aspects of this fantastic wine region.

The Advice page is also worth a look, to discover things like what is actually meant by a unit of alcohol, thoughts on serving temperature, etc.

If you are looking for wines from a different part of the world, or if nothing here takes your fancy, then please have a look at my fellow members of the Association of Small Direct Wine Merchants (ASDW), at www.asdw.org.uk They are all true enthusiasts about wine.

Featured Domain - L'Ermitage du Pic Saint-Loup

This biodynamic domain has been bottling its own Pic Saint-Loup wines since 1992. The domain consists of 55 ha of vines of many varieties, with significant plantings of Syrah, Grenache Noir, Mourvedre, Roussanne, Marsanne and Grenache Blanc. The terroir is very varied and has examples of six of the seven major geological types found in the appellation. The majority of the vines are trained as Cordon de Royat, with a few old vines still en goblet. The vinification is largely traditional, but temperature controlled in 50hl stainless steel cuves for the reds and barriques for the white wine. The level of oak aging is dependent on the year and the cuvee, but is always done carefully to avoid the wine gaining a taste of oak. For more information, and to see the wines that we stock from this super domain please click here.
