Domaine Pierre Cros
The Minervois Domaine Pierre Cros is a hot arid place, with just 20 hectares of vines planted on the thin, shallow stony limestone soils. But they cultivate an interesting variety of varieties, with red wine made from from 100 year old Carignan, Aramon, Alicante, and Piquepoul Noir along with the more expected Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre. The white grapes include such well known varieties as Grenache Blanc, Rolle, and Piquepoul Blanc.

Good viticulture, and careful winemaking make wines that are great to drink, either with a group of people, or more contemplatively a deux.

Minervois Rouge Vielles Vignes 2009

Domaine Pierre Cros
Minervois Rouge Vielles Vignes 2009

The new vintage of this fascinating wine. It is made from 100% Carignan harvested from vines over 100 years old. This wine is intense and full of flavour, with much deep purple plum and concentrated black fruit coulis to the fore, but with some interesting high toned notes and good spice, particulary liquorice.
