Mas Amiel
Mas Amiel is the leading and most important producer in the Roussillon AOC of Maury. Situated in the heart of Cathar country, just below the ruined castle of Queribus, the soils on the domain are made from black schist, which is not only free draining, but remakably poor. The land is swept by wind, most often the dry Tramontane, which makes this land even more arid.

The domain is large, with well over 150 hectares of vines producing a range of non-fortified red, white and rose wines, but also the most impressaive range of sweet fortified wines one could wish to find. They fall into two categories, the old style rancio wines that can be aged for decades in glass bonbons, and modern fruit driven full bodied wines that are equally complex and fascinating.
